Overview
Bougainvillea Growers International (BGI) was founded in 1994 on 5 acres with a vision of turning a niche market into a global phenomenon, bringing color and beauty to landscapes and bougainvillea lovers everywhere.
Specializing in growing only one plant species brought disbelief and skepticism from many, but today, BGI is the world's largest bougainvillea grower, introducing new bougainvillea varieties and products with every season.
The Bougainvillea Authority
Today, our wholesale nurseries total a massive 67 acres. We currently grow over 20 varieties of bougainvillea all specifically chosen for their reliable branching and flowering habit, and five different bougainvillea products – bush, trellis, standard, hanging basket, and bonsai. BGI combines a unique hybrid of traditional and progressive business methods to offer premium bougainvillea and bougainvillea products, outstanding customer service, and wide delivery capabilities to the wholesale market unlike any other grower in the industry.
Our advanced methods of propagation and production puts BGI at the forefront of our industry, enabling us to offer the largest availability and widest range of bougainvillea products to landscape professionals in the capacity of architects, designers, and contractors. Our vast range of satisfied customers also includes plant brokers, re-wholesalers, and garden centers, both locally and nationally owned.
In today's ecological, social, and economic climate, conserving our natural resources is everyone's concern. BGI is excited to play our part in promoting sustainable landscape architecture, and take pride in growing a drought-tolerant, xeriscape-friendly plant. The reality is that turf grass is highly problematic in areas where drought conditions prevail due to the large quantities of water needed to maintain them, and South Florida is no stranger to such conditions. Just this past summer in 2007, many counties in Florida were under strict water restrictions, and many landscaping projects came to a halt. As the American lawn recedes more and more every year due to drought conditions, xeriscaping will become a more attractive alternative that can yield amazingly beautiful landscapes. BGI encourages our landscape professionals and weekend gardeners to learn more about the benefits of xeriscaping, and do their part to conserve our limited water source. Water restrictions are a fact with which we may have to live with for the foreseeable future, but the present predicament can also be seen as an opportunity to experiment and grow into an excitingly progressive area of landscape design.

Our Nurseries
BGI's wholesale nurseries are not open to the general public. Only professionals in the Nursery Trade are permitted on site.
Gardening societies, and professional horticultural associations interested in special group tours of our facilities in Boynton Beach submit their request. We are happy to share our knowledge and love of growing bougainvillea!
BGI's flagship nursery is located in Palm Beach County, Florida, 45 minutes north of Ft. Lauderdale. We operate 3 growing facilities in Boynton Beach that make up 45 acres in Southeast Florida. Our newest location, called BGI West opened in early 2007 to service mainly our ever-growing West Florida customers. 102 acres make up BGI West – 22 of which are already in production. BGI plans to have all 102 acres in full production by 2012, which would make us the largest bougainvillea nursery in the world.
